This study aims to determine the effect of concentration and duration of
colchicine soaking on the growth and production of mung beans. This research
was conducted at Jl. Harmonika, Medan Selayang District from May to December
2024. This research used a 2-factor randomized group design (RAK) method. The
first factor is the length of soaking (P): P1 (2 hours), P2 (4 hours), P3 (6 hours).
The second factor is the concentration of colchicine (K): K1 (0%), K2 (0.05%),
K3 (0.10%). The observed variables were plant height, number of leaves,
flowering age, seed weight and 100 seed weight. The results showed that
colchicine concentration treatment significantly affected plant height 2-5 weeks
after planting, number of leaves 2-3 weeks after planting, flowering age, seed
weight per plot, 100 seed weight and pod length. Soaking time treatment only
significantly affected the number of leaves at 2 weeks after planting. The
interaction between soaking time and concentration treatment had no significant
effect on all observation parameters.
