The Role of Grit on Subjektif Well-Being in Students at SMA Swasta Bersama Berastagi
Abstract
Student well-being is essential to consider, as it significantly influences the quality of students' lives in the future (Ianah et al., 2021). Seligman (2011) states that one of the personality factors that plays a role in subjective well-being is grit. This study aims to examine the role of grit in subjective well-being among students at SMA Swasta Bersama Berastagi. According to Duckworth (2016), grit is defined as the consistency of interest and perseverance in achieving long-term goals. The population of this study consists of students at SMA Swasta Bersama Berastagi. The sampling technique employed in this research is total sampling. A total of 208 students will be the subjects of this study. Data collection was conducted using the grit scale developed by Tobing (2023) and the Brief Adolescent Subjective Well- Being in School Scale (BASWBSS) by Tian et al. (2015), which was adapted by Prasetyawati (2021) from Mandarin to Indonesian. Data analysis was performed using simple linear regression analysis. Based on the data analysis, a significance value of p < 0.05 and the linear regression equation Y = 20.336 + 0.213X were obtained, indicating that grit plays a role in the subjective well-being of students at SMA Swasta Bersama Berastagi.
