The Effect of Agriculture, Processing Industry, and Service Sector on Labor Absorption in Indonesia with Domestic Investment as Moderating Variable
Abstract
With a large population, Indonesia faces challenges in employment, namely labor absorption which has fluctuated in the last five years in ten Indonesian provinces. The economic sector in Indonesia plays a role in labor absorption, where economic sector activities require labor in carrying out work in these sectors. The purpose of this research is to see the influence between the Agriculture, Processing Industry, and Services Sectors on Labor Absorption in ten Indonesian provinces with PMDN, whether it can moderate the relationship between these influences with a time span of 2015 - 2024. The type of research used is descriptive quantitative, which is a descriptive approach with a quantitative approach. The data used is secondary data, this research is panel data research using the Panel Data Regression Analysis and Moderate Regression Analysis (MRA) methods assisted by the Eviews 13 analysis tool. The result of this study shows that: 1) the agricultural sector has a positive and insignificant effect on labor absorption in Indonesia, 2) the processing industry sector has a positive and significant effect on labor absorption in Indonesia, 3) the service sector has a negative and significant effect on labor absorption in Indonesia, 4) the agricultural sector, processing industry and services simultaneously have a significant effect on labor absorption in Indonesia, 5) domestic investment can moderate by weakening the influence between the agricultural sector and labor absorption in Indonesia 6) domestic investment cannot moderate the relationship between the processing industry sector and labor absorption in Indonesia, and 7) domestic investment can moderate by weakening the influence between the service sector and labor absorption in Indonesia.
