Pengelolaan Pelayanan dan Asuhan Keperawatan Klien dengan Ketidakberdayaan melalui Penerapan Intervensi Psikososial di Kecamatan Medan Kota

Abstract

Helplessness is one of the psychological responses often experienced by individuals who care for family members with chronic illnesses such as chronic mental disorders. This problem arises due to emotional stress, changes in social roles, and minimal support received from the surrounding environment while caring for family members at home. This senior practicum aims to implement the management and nursing care of clients with helplessness through the application of psychosocial interventions in Medan Kota District. The instruments used in compiling this report are the assessment format and questionnaire. The method used in this report is a case study with a nursing process approach. Data were collected through interviews, observations, physical examinations, and the Learned Helplessness Scale (LHS) questionnaire to identify the level of helplessness. The results of the provision of nursing care showed that both clients with the same problem, namely helplessness and had been given psychosocial interventions in the form of coping promotion, experienced a decrease in the level of helplessness with the results of the LHS scores in both clients from the high helplessness category to the moderate, there was an increase in understanding of the conditions faced, re-engagement in social activities, and the formation of acceptance of the role as a caregiver. Psychosocial interventions can be used by community mental health nurses to help clients improve their potential, adaptive coping, and self-confidence and independence in facing difficult situations, so it is recommended to be implemented in community mental health nursing services.
