    Abstract
The issue of food safety for snacks consumed by elementary school children in Indonesia remains a serious concern. A preliminary survey at SD Negeri 060894 Medan showed that students do not yet have sufficient knowledge and attitudes in choosing healthy snacks. The school canteen being non-operational causes students to buy snacks from street vendors outside the school, where the environmental conditions are less hygienic. This study aims to determine the effect of education using the board game "Snakes and Ladders" and posters on the knowledge and attitudes toward choosing healthy snacks among fourth-grade students. The method used is a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach, involving 34 students divided into two groups, namely the snakes and ladders media group and the poster media group, each consisting of 17 students. Data were collected through pretest and posttest questionnaires and then analyzed using a paired sample t-test. The results showed a significant increase in knowledge and attitudes in both groups. The average knowledge score increased from 7.12 percent to 10.29 percent in the snakes and ladders group, and from 6.47 percent to 9.82 percent in the poster group. Attitudes improved from 24.47 percent to 32.71 percent in the snakes and ladders group, and from 21.59 percent to 30.47 percent in the poster group. Education using the snakes and ladders media group was found to be more effective. It is recommended that schools use this media as an alternative to raise students’awareness regarding the choice of healthy snacks.
