Life satisfaction refers to a person’s subjective evaluation of the extent to which
they are content with their life as a whole. One factor that is believed to positively
influence life satisfaction is gratitude, an individual's ability to recognize and
appreciate positive aspects of life, even in the midst of difficulties. This study
aimed to determine the positive influence of gratitude on life satisfaction among
mothers who have children with special needs. The method used in this study is
quantitative, with a simple linear regression approach. The research involved 78
mothers of children with special needs at SLB-E Negeri Pembina Kota Medan.
The instruments used were the Gratitude Questionnaire-6 (GQ-6) to measure
gratitude and the Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS) to measure life satisfaction.
The results showed a positive and significant influence of gratitude on life
satisfaction, with a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05) and a coefficient of
determination (R²) of 0.830. This indicates that gratitude contributes 83% to life
satisfaction in mothers of children with special needs. Therefore, the higher the
level of gratitude a mother possesses, the greater her overall life satisfaction.
