Abstract
Background: Professional Pharmacist Work Practice (PKPA) is a form of field learning
that aims to provide prospective pharmacists with direct experience in understanding the
roles, functions, and responsibilities of their profession in various pharmaceutical facilities.
This PKPA was conducted at PT. Millennium Pharmacon International Tbk (MPI) Medan
Branch, one of the largest Pharmaceutical Wholesalers (PBF) in Indonesia engaged in the
distribution of medicines, medical devices, and disposable medical supplies. The PKPA
was held from September 2, 2024, to September 27, 2024, with a focus on the management
of pharmaceutical preparations in accordance with the principles of Good Distribution
Practices (GDP).
Objective: This PKPA aims to provide prospective pharmacists with hands-on experience
in understanding the roles, functions, and responsibilities of their profession in various
pharmaceutical facilities.
Summary: PKPA activities cover various aspects of pharmaceutical distribution
management, from planning, procurement, receipt, storage, distribution, to the destruction
of products that are unfit for distribution. In addition, there is also an in-depth study of
documentation systems, reporting, self-inspection, and the management of special products
such as cold chain, psychotropic drugs, precursors, and Specific Drugs (OOT). The role of
pharmacists in PBF is crucial in ensuring the quality, safety, and smooth distribution of
drugs so that they can reach the community appropriately and in accordance with laws and
regulations.
Conclusion: PT. MPI Medan Branch has consistently implemented CDOB standards,
covering aspects of personnel organization, storage facilities, transportation systems, and
recording and reporting mechanisms to relevant agencies such as the Ministry of Health
and BPOM. With the active involvement of pharmacists, the pharmaceutical distribution
system at PBF can run in a structured and transparent manner.
