Automatic Cutting System for Dry Shallot Leaves and Roots Based on Pressure and Thickness Detection
Abstract
This study aims to develop an automatic system for cutting dry shallot leaves and roots based on pressure and thickness detection technology, as a solution to the limitations of manual cutting methods commonly used by farmers. The system is designed using a FlexiForce sensor to detect pressure and a VL53L0X sensor to measure shallot thickness in real-time. An Arduino Uno microcontroller is used as the control center to process sensor data and operate the cutting actuator. Tests conducted on 100 samples show that the system successfully categorized cuts as follows: 88% well-cut, 9% poorly cut, and 3% uncut (error). These results demonstrate that the system has high precision and accuracy in the cutting process, improves work efficiency, and reduces labor intensity. Therefore, this system is feasible to be applied to support automatic post-harvest processing of shallots.
