| dc.description.abstract | Background: The Pharmacist Professional Practice (PKPA) at community health centers (puskesmas) is a field-based learning activity for students of the Pharmacist Professional Education Program. This program equips future pharmacists with the knowledge, skills, and responsibility required in pharmaceutical services.
Objective: The purpose of the PKPA is to provide students with practical experience in pharmaceutical supply management, medical devices, consumables, and clinical pharmacy services in public health centers.
Methods: The PKPA was conducted at UPT. Puskesmas Medan Labuhan from October 7 to October 28, 2024. The methods included observation, hands-on practice in drug management, prescription services, drug information delivery, counseling, and community education on the rational use of antibiotics.
Results: Students gained direct experience in pharmaceutical supply management, including planning, requesting, receiving, storing, distributing, controlling, recording, reporting, and evaluation. Skills in clinical pharmacy services such as prescription review, drug information provision, counseling, adverse drug reaction monitoring, and drug use evaluation were also enhanced. Additionally, educational activities for the elderly on the rational use of antibiotics improved public awareness of safe and effective drug use.
Conclusion: The PKPA at public health centers significantly improves students' understanding, managerial skills, and professionalism, preparing them to face future professional challenges in accordance with pharmaceutical practice standards. | en_US |
