    Abstract
Respiratory Distress Syndrome (RDS) is one of the respiratory disorders in neonates that can cause hypoxemia, increased work of breathing, and imbalance of ventilation and perfusion if not handled optimally. This senior practice aims to evaluate the effectiveness of pronation position intervention in managing nursing care for infants with RDS in the NICU room of Prof. Dr. Chairuddin Panusunan Lubis Hospital, USU. The method used is a case study with a monitoring and documentation approach. The subjects in this practice were two infants with RDS who were given pronation position interventions for 1 hour / day for three days. The results obtained showed an improvement in physiological status in the form of an increase in oxygen saturation reaching 99%, a decrease in respiratory frequency from 70 times/minute to 51 times/minute and 64 times/minute to 51 times/minute, and a decrease in heart rate from 176 times/minute 148 times/minute and 188 times/minute to 158 times/minute. These results explain that the application of pronation position can be an effective, safe, and applicable nursing intervention in improving the oxygenation status of infants with Respiratory Distress Syndrome (RDS), and can be used as part of evidence-based practice in neonatal nursing services.
