dc.description.abstract | Inadequate sanitation and substandard housing conditions remain significant challenges to environmental health in Indonesia. The Community-Based Total Sanitation (STBM) approach, as outlined in Permenkes No. 3 Tahun 2014, aims to promote behavioral change in maintaining hygiene and sanitation, thereby creating a healthy and livable environment. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the five pillars of Community-Based Total Sanitation (STBM) and healthy housing in Siantar Martoba Sub-district, Pematangsiantar City. A descriptive research design was employed. The population in this study consisted of all households (KK) in Siantar Martoba District, which consists of seven administrative villages namely Sumber Jaya, Naga Pita, Nagapitu, Pondok Sayur, Tanjung Pinggir, Tanjung Tongah and Tambun Nabolon, with a total of 13,353 households. A sample of 100 households was determined using the Slovin formula. The sampling technique used was proportional sampling, with purposive selection of respondents based on specific criteria. Data were collected through questionnaires and observations, then analyzed using univariate analysis. The findings showed that 67% of respondents had good knowledge and 88% demonstrated a positive attitude toward STBM and healthy housing. Handwashing with soap (98%), safe management of household drinking water and food (97%), household solid waste management (11%), household liquid waste management (0%), and healthy housing (12%) were categorized as good. However, the implementation of the fourth and fifth STBM pillars and the ownership of healthy housing were categorized as poor, although knowledge and attitudes were generally favorable. It is recommended that communities increase awareness in realizing total sanitation and healthy housing. Educational efforts, community assistance, and continuous monitoring should be strengthened to encourage behavioral change and sustainable sanitation improvements. | en_US |
