    Representation of Cultural Identity of Fontaine Region in Game Genshin Impact

    Abstract
    The massive development of video game field that highlight the theme of cultures in this digital era lead this study to examine the cultural identity in video game with the name Genshin Impact focusing on the Fontaine region main lores, characters, and visuals. This research aims to identify cultural identities and to describe the representation of cultural identity in Fontaine region. Additionally, to spread awareness about culture and further research about culture in media video game. The main theory used in this research is Stuart Hall’s Representation Theory with the three approaches; reflective representation, intentional representation and constructive representation. This study also use qualitative research with content analysis method to get the data and data analysis by interactive model which had stages; data collection, data condensation, data display and drawing conclusion. This research points out severals cultural identities in Genshin Impact the region of Fontaine that reflect the real-life cultures and the cultural identity in-game that formed Fontaine as a region. Fontaine not only represent the domination of France culture but also present other culture such as; Ancient Greek, Italy and Great Britain. Through this research, it showed new and many perspective as to how an individual interpret the cultural identity elements in the Fontaine region and how the developers perspective interpret cultures and built a region with Europe nuance with France culture domination. The conclusion of this research, the theory researcher use for this research was applicable and useable in Genshin Impact video game the region of Fontaine that hightlight the theme of culture with the domination of developer, Hoyoverse’s perspective. Further research about Genshin Impact is highly recommended due to the popularity and bunch of ongoing contents with upcoming region that many players has been waiting for that highlight Russia culture, Snezhnaya.
