| dc.description.abstract | Background: In the field of the pharmaceutical industry, pharmacists are required to master formulation and production competencies for pharmaceutical preparations in accordance with regulatory standards, particularly Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). These competencies are essential to ensure the quality, safety, and effectiveness of the pharmaceutical products produced. Beside technical proficiency, pharmacists also need to possess the ability to work in teams, build cross-disciplinary relationships, and adapt to advancements in science and technology. To equip future pharmacists to meet national competency standards, the Pharmacy Professional Study Program (PSPPA) at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of North Sumatra, conducted industrial work practice activities as an effort to develop practical skills and professional readiness.
Objective: To deepen the author's understanding of the role, function, position, and responsibilities of pharmacists in the context of the pharmaceutical industry. Additionally, this activity is also intended to provide the author with empirical experience in learning the principles of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and to directly examine the suitability of their implementation in the pharmaceutical industry environment.
Summary: The Pharmacist Professional Practice (PKPA) at Lafiau Roostyan Effendie Industry Bandung will be held from March 3rd to April 30th, 2025. During PKPA, the author was involved in the production process, drug product evaluation, quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) in the quality control department, as well as supporting activities such as HVAC, compressed air systems, water treatment, wastewater treatment, and the storage of raw materials and finished products.
Conclusion: Based on the results of the Pharmacist Professional Practice (PKPA) at Lafiau Roostyan Effendie, it can be concluded that pharmacists have an important role and responsibility in ensuring the quality of pharmaceutical products. The author also gained an understanding that production planning at the company is based on Diskesau's demand, which is centralized at Disadaau. In addition, the implementation of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) has been carried out well, as evidenced by the acquisition of a GMP certificate for the production of Cephalosporin preparations. | en_US |
