Abstract

Background: The Pharmacist Professional Work Practice (PKPA) is an essential component of the Apothecary Professional Education Program, designed to prepare pharmacists in accordance with the Indonesian Pharmacist Competency Standards (SKAI) 2016. PT Darya-Varia Laboratoria Tbk, Citeureup Plant, was selected as the training site due to its comprehensive implementation of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Objective: To understand the roles, responsibilities, and competencies of pharmacists in the pharmaceutical industry, and to observe the application of GMP across various aspects of production and quality management. Methods: The PKPA was conducted from March 3 to April 30, 2025, through placement in the Quality Assurance Document Control Center (QA DCC) & Registration department and induction into several other units, including production, quality control, and drug distribution. Results: The program provided students with in-depth knowledge of quality management systems, personnel organization, production facilities, and distribution mechanisms in compliance with GMP. It also offered practical experience in documentation, validation, and quality risk management. Conclusion: The PKPA at PT Darya-Varia Laboratoria Tbk Citeureup Plant effectively enhanced students’ knowledge, skills, and practical competencies in industrial pharmacy practice. This training plays a significant role in preparing future pharmacists to perform professional, ethical, and patient-oriented pharmaceutical services.
