Pengelolaan Asuhan Keperawatan Bencana terhadap Edukasi Pengelolaan Sampah Pasca Banjir di Kelurahan Sei Mati Medan Maimun

Abstract

Floods are hydrometeorological disasters that have a significant impact on public health, especially due to waste and garbage carried by water. Accumulation of waste after flooding without proper handling has the potential to cause various infectious diseases such as diarrhea, leptospirosis, and skin infections. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of disaster nursing care management in the form of post-flood waste management education in Sei Mati Village, Medan Maimun District. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with a case study approach to 35 respondents affected by the flood. The results of the study showed that the role of community nurses as educators, facilitators, and advocates was very effective in increasing public knowledge and awareness in managing post-flood waste. Interventions in the form of counseling, simulations, and community assistance have been shown to increase positive behavior in environmental cleanliness. In conclusion, disaster nursing care management based on environmental education can be an important preventive strategy in reducing the risk of post-disaster disease.
