Background: The pharmaceutical industry is a business entity that has obtained legal authorization to manufacture drugs or drug substances. All manufacturing activities must comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Pharmacists play a key role in the pharmaceutical industry since they are required to possess proper qualifications, knowledge, experience, and skills to ensure that the implementation of GMP is carried out in accordance with the established requirements.
Objective: The Professional Work Practice of Pharmacists (PKPA) aims to
provide pharmacy students with an understanding of the roles, functions, and responsibilities of pharmacists in the pharmaceutical industry, as well as to gain practical experience in the application of GMP in pharmaceutical
manufacturing. This program also equips students with practical skills and
insights in carrying out pharmaceutical activities in the industry, specifically at PT Dankos Farma.
Summary: The PKPA at PT Dankos Farma was conducted from January 2 to
February 28, 2025, with primary placement in the Quality Control (QC) Raw
Material–Packaging Material (RMPM) department. In addition, students were
introduced to various other departments through induction and training sessions. Pharmacists play an essential role in ensuring the quality of pharmaceutical preparations, from raw materials to finished products. PT Dankos Farma has consistently applied all aspects of GMP, including quality management systems, personnel, facilities, equipment, sanitation and hygiene, production, quality control, self-inspection, quality audits, documentation, validation, and qualification.
Conclusion: After completing the PKPA at PT Dankos Farma, it can be
concluded that pharmacists are key personnel in the pharmaceutical industry with responsibilities in production, quality assurance, and quality control. This program provides pharmacy students with knowledge, skills, and practical experience regarding the implementation of GMP in the pharmaceutical industry. PT Dankos Farma has demonstrated consistent implementation of GMP in all aspects to ensure that every manufactured drug is safe, effective, and of high quality.
