Background: CHF is a clinical syndrome characterized by signs and symptoms of excess fluid or inadequate tissue perfusion. The underlying mechanism of congestive heart failure involves impaired cardiac contractile properties (systolic dysfunction) or cardiac filling (diastolic) which causes cardiac output to be lower than normal.
Methods: This study is a case study of nursing care management in 3 CHF patients in the RIC Heart inpatient room of H. Adam Malik General Hospital, Medan. Interventions were given in the form of a combination of warm water therapy (hydrotherapy), PMR, and murotal therapy for several days.
Results: After the application of the hydrotherapy method combined with progressive relaxation muscle therapy and murotal al-Quran therapy, there were results that decreased pain intensity from a scale of 6 to 2 (NRS), fatigue levels decreased from moderate to mild (BFI), and patient quality of life scores increased in all four WHOQOL-BREF domains, especially in the physical and psychological domains.
Conclusion: The application of a combination of warm water therapy, PMR, and murotal Al-Qur'an synergistically is effective in reducing pain intensity and fatigue and improving the quality of life of CHF patients. This intervention can be used as a non-pharmacological alternative in nursing practice for patients with chronic chest pain due to CHF.
