Biodiesel is one of environment friendly alternative fuels to substitute fossil fuels. The implementation of Biodiesel in daily life is being fuel for transportation. Biodiesel can be obtained from various type of oil, one in particular is waste coconut oil that can be taken as example in this plant preliminary design assignment.
Plant preliminary design of Biodiesel from waste coconut oil raw material designed with the capacity of 4.800 ton/year and fully operated for 330 days in a year. The location of this plant planned in Pangkalan Kerinci subdistrict, Pelalawan regency, Riau. The purpose of designing Biodiesel plant is for applying chemical engineering knowledge which include mass balance, energy balance, equipment specification, chemical engineering operation, utility, and another type of chemical engineering knowledge, also for fulfill the requirement of environment friendly alternative fuel.
