Background: The pharmaceutical industry is a business entity authorized to produce drugs and drug ingredients based on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) to ensure quality, safety, and efficacy. The Indonesian Air Force Pharmaceutical Institute (LAFIAU) Drs. Roostyan Effendie, Apt. is a GMP-certified pharmaceutical industry focused on providing drugs to soldiers, civil servants, and the Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) family. Pharmacists play a crucial role in ensuring product quality and safety, requiring competent pharmacists equipped with knowledge and hands-on experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
Objectives: To enhance student pharmacists' understanding of the roles, functions, positions, and responsibilities of pharmacists in the pharmaceutical industry, this internship also provides students with the opportunity to learn about Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and compare its appropriateness in practice.
Summary: The PKPA was carried out from March 3, 2025, to April 30, 2025, covering observation and practice in the production department, Quality Control (QC), and Quality Assurance (QA), as well as reviews of supporting facilities such as HVAC systems, compressed air systems, water treatment, wastewater management, and warehouse management. These activities offered a comprehensive learning experience of production flow and quality control systems.
Conclusion: After participating in the PKPA at Lafiau Roostyan Effendie, it can be concluded that pharmacists play a key role in ensuring the quality of pharmaceutical products. Through this activity, prospective pharmacists gain a deep understanding of the implementation of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and practical experience, equipping them to carry out their profession professionally and in accordance with pharmaceutical standards.
