Background: Forensic identification is crucial role in determining the identity of victims in disaster or criminal cases. Stature is one of the key parameters that can be estimated from certain body parts when a body is found in an incomplete condition. Foot length (plantar pedis) has been shown to correlate with stature; however, body proportions vary across populations and ethnic groups. To date, research on the relationship between foot length and height in the Batak ethnicity has been limited, necessitating a specific formula for this population. Indonesia consists of various ethnic groups and cultures, such as North Sumatra, which is predominantly inhabited by the Batak ethnic group. The Batak are the largest ethnic group in North Sumatra, comprising 44% of the population. Therefore, further research is important and necessary. Based on this, the researcher was interested in finding the relationship between height and foot length and determining height based on foot length (plantar pedis) for the Batak tribe, then producing a formula for determining height based on foot length Objective: To determine the correlation between foot length and body height and to develop an estimation formula for stature based on foot length among the Batak ethnic group in 2025. Methods: This research is an analytic quantitative study with a cross-sectional design, involving 80 Batak respondents aged 21–35 years. The independent variables were right and left foot length, while the dependent variable was stature. Data were collected directly using a sliding caliper and a wireless body height meter, then analyzed using Pearson‟s correlation test and linear regression. Results: The sample consisted of 39 males and 41 females. The mean stature was 166.45 cm for males and 157.32 cm for females. Pearson‟s correlation test showed a significant relationship between foot length and stature (p < 0.05) with a strong to very strong correlation (r = 0.613–0.821). Regression analysis produced several estimation equations, with the best formula found in left foot length for females: Height = 88.732 + 2.962 (LFL) ± 3.7764. Conclusion: There is a significant correlation between foot length and stature among the Batak ethnic group. The resulting formula can serve as an alternative method for estimating stature in the context of forensic identification within this population.en_US
