Analysis of Income Level, Education Expectation, Availability of Raw Materials and Number of Family Dependents on Consumption and Savings Level. (Case Study: People's Plantation Laborers in Gonting Malaha Village, Bandar Pulau Subdistrict, Asahan Regency)
Abstract
This study aims to analyze the influence of income level, educational
expectations, availability of raw materials, and number of family dependents on
household consumption and savings levels among plantation laborers in Gonting
Malaha Village, Bandar Pulau District, Asahan Regency. The research addresses
issues stemming from the low and unstable income of rural communities, high
family dependency burdens, and limited access to basic needs and education, which
contribute to fluctuating consumption patterns and low household savings. A
quantitative approach with a survey method was employed, involving 60
respondents selected through incidental sampling.
Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression to determine the
simultaneous and partial effects of each independent variable on consumption level,
and simple linear regression to test the effect of consumption on household savings.
The findings indicate that, partially, income and number of family
dependents have a significant effect on consumption levels, while educational
expectations have a significantly negative effect, and the availability of raw
materials has no significant effect. Furthermore, the consumption level has a
positive and significant impact on household savings.
