Elderly is an age group that has begun to enter the final stages of the life cycle.
Elderly experience disorders in the ability to think, remember, communicate
and carry out daily activities. Dementia is a stage of loss of intellectual ability,
so that it can interfere with work or social activities. There are several changes
in various aspects such as physical body shape, changes in thinking ability
(cognitive), spiritual aspects, body organ function, and changes in the ability to
adapt socially and mentally. Cognitive functions such as adaptive, language
assessment, emotional disorders, memory, motivation, attention, having
difficulty concentrating, learning to receive information, difficulty remembering
something, speaking, planning, and difficulty starting and ending activities.
This senior practice aims to carry out comprehensive nursing care and service
management starting from assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning,
implementation, and evaluation of cognitive dysfunction. The nursing process
begins with an assessment of the individual, analyzing data, formulating a
diagnosis, preparing an action plan, nursing, implementing it, then evaluating
the achievements of nursing care that have been carried out. Given the
implementation using music therapy, it can improve verbal fluency and reduce
anxiety, depression, and apathy in certain patients living with dementia.
