Pembuatan dan Karakterisasi Beton Polimer dengan Agregat Batu Apung serta Bonggol Jagung dan Serbuk Karet Ban sebagai Filler
Manufacturing and Characterization of Polymer Concrete with Pumice Aggregate and Corn Cob and Rubber Tire Powder as Filler
Abstract
Rubber tire powder, corn cobs, sand, and epoxy resin are the materials used in polymer concrete, which has been the subject of extensive research. The sand and corn cobs are sieved using a 100-mesh sieve. The materials are then mixed in a 60:40 ratio of sand to corn cobs, rubber tire powder (0.2, 4, 6, 8, 10 g), and epoxy resin (30 and 40 g). The mixture is pressed at 900°C for 30 minutes using the hot press method. Density, porosity, water absorption, hardness, flexural strength, compressive strength, and microstructure examination using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) were the parameters observed. According to the research results, the best combination is as follows: This material has the following physical properties: density = 1.32 g/cm³, porosity = 16.5%, and water absorption = 11.02%. Three mechanical properties included in the list of mechanical properties: hardness (16.86 MPa), flexural strength (98.2 MPa), and compressive strength (495.2 MPa). Uneven porosity distribution in the microstructure of polymer concrete is visible in the scanning electron micrograph. The EDX results in this study indicate that oxygen (O₂ ) accounts for 37.3% of the total, followed by carbon (C) at 47.8%, silica (0.8%), aluminum (2.8%), calcium (1.1%), magnesium (0.3%), sodium (0.7%), and potassium (1.1%). Finally, there is a small amount of calcium (Ca) and magnesium (0.3%). Traditional concrete has a higher density than this polymer concrete
