| dc.description.abstract | Background: Pharmaceutical services in hospitals are a vital part of the healthcare
system aimed at improving patient quality of life by providing quality and affordable
pharmaceutical preparations, medical devices, and consumables. The Professional
Pharmacist Internship Program (PKPA) serves as an important platform for pharmacy
students to gain practical experience and understand the implementation of
pharmaceutical services in hospitals. These services are regulated by the Indonesian
Ministry of Health Regulation No. 72 of 2016 to ensure patient safety and service quality.
Objective: This study aims to enhance pharmacy students’ understanding of the roles and
responsibilities of pharmacists in pharmaceutical services at UPTD. Hajj General Hospital Medan and to
compare the hospital’s pharmaceutical services with the standards set by Ministry of
Health Regulation No. 72 of 2016. The main focus includes the management of
pharmaceutical preparations, medical devices, and disposable medical supplies, as well as
providing clinical pharmacy services such as prescription screening, drug preparation,
and patient counseling to achieve effective and safe drug therapy. Method: The method
involved direct practical work by students during the PKPA program conducted
from March 3 to April 28, 2025, at UPTD. Hajj General Hospital Medan.
Activities included prescription screening, drug inventory management, clinical
pharmacy services, and monitoring pharmaceutical service quality. Conclusion:
The hospital pharmacists at UPTD. Hajj General Hospital Medan effectively
fulfill their roles and responsibilities in managing pharmaceutical supplies and
providing clinical pharmacy services in accordance with the Ministry of Health
Regulation No. 72 of 2016. However, there are still several aspects that need to be
improved, especially the lack of pharmacists and pharmaceutical technical staff to
meet the workload set by applicable regulations to improve the quality of
pharmaceutical services. | en_US |
