Nursing Care Management for Clients with Gout Arthritis Experiencing Acute Pain Through the Implementation of Ergonomic Exercise in Padang Bulan Subdistrict, Environment IV
Abstract
Gout arthritis is a condition caused by the accumulation of monosodium urate crystals in the body. Normal uric acid levels are defined as less than 6 mg/dL in women and less than 7 mg/dL. in men. Elevated levels of uric acid can lead to joint pain and swelling. This practicum aims to analyze the nursing care management of clients with gout arthritis experiencing acute pain through the application of ergonomic exercise in Padang Bulan Subdistrict, Environment IV. The implementation was conducted as a case study involving three clients with gout arthritis. The nursing care was carried out over a two-week period from June 11 to 21, 2025, encompassing assessment, intervention, implementation, and evaluation. Ergonomic exercise was implemented for three consecutive days, each session lasting 40 minutes. In addition to ergonomic exercise, clients also received education on gout arthritis dietary management. The results showed a decrease in joint pain intensity and uric acid levels in all three clients following the intervention. These findings indicate that ergonomic exercise is effective in reducing joint pain and lowering uric acid levels, as the activity enhances the body's metabolic processes, thereby improving uric acid reabsorption. It is expected that the outcomes of this practicum will contribute to improving the quality of life of gout arthritis clients suffering from acute pain through the application of ergonomic exercise.
