Abstract

This study describes the emotional transformation of the main character in John Wick (2014), focusing on the shift from grief to vengeance and the resulting cultural destruction. The film, directed by Chad Stahelski, presents a retired assassin who falls into deep sorrow after losing his wife. His final connection to her—a puppy—is cruelly taken from him, pushing him back into a violent world he had abandoned. The purpose of this study is to describe how grief evolves into acts of personal retaliation and how such actions symbolize a breakdown of cultural values. By using a descriptive qualitative method, this study observes scenes, dialogues, and character developments in the film to uncover emotional and symbolic representations. The findings suggest that unresolved grief can lead to emotional collapse, loss of identity, and disruption of moral codes.
