Background: The Pharmaceutical Industry is a business entity licensed in
accordance with statutory regulations to manufacture drugs or drug ingredients,
including procurement of raw materials, production, packaging, quality control,
and distribution. In its operations, the pharmaceutical industry is required to
implement Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP/CPOB). PT. Faratu Indonesia is
a subsidiary of PT Pharos Indonesia, producing and marketing innovative
pharmaceutical products tailored to the needs of the Indonesian people.
Objective: The Pharmacist Professional Internship (PKPA) in the pharmaceutical
industry aims to improve prospective pharmacists' understanding of the roles,
functions, and responsibilities of pharmacists in the pharmaceutical industry,
particularly in the implementation of GMP and the applicable quality system.
Summary: The Pharmacist Professional Internship (PKPA) was conducted at PT.
Faratu from December 3, 2024, to January 31, 2025, The main activities included
direct observation and practice in the Production Department and explanations of
other departments within PT. Faratu, such as Quality Control (QC), Quality
Assurance (QA), Warehouse, and Engineering. The pharmaceutical industry
requires a minimum of three pharmacists responsible for production, quality
assurance, and quality control.
Conclusion: This PKPA activity was conducted to understand and implement
direct learning regarding the roles, functions, and responsibilities of pharmacists
in the pharmaceutical industry, as well as the application of Good Manufacturing
Practices (GMP) at PT. Faratu in producing safe, effective, and high-quality
drugs. Through this activity, prospective pharmacists gained practical insight into
professional responsibilities in ensuring safe, effective, and high-quality drugs.
