Hypertension is a global health problem that continues to increase, posing significant challenges in disease management. For hypertension patients, self-awareness is crucial for understanding one's condition, managing the disease, adhering to medication, and adopting healthy lifestyles. Not only the elderly, but hypertension has also spread to early adults. Many early adults, in fact, exhibit low self-awareness. This study aimed to describe and identify the level of self-awareness among early adult hypertension patients in Medan City. This quantitative descriptive study involved 411 early adult hypertension patients as respondents, recruited through incidental sampling. Data were collected using a self-awareness scale constructed by the researchers. The results showed that the majority of early adulthood hypertension patients in Medan had low self-awareness (51.3%). Further analysis of the three aspects of self-awareness indicated that most respondents were categorized as low rather than high. The highest percentage of low self-awareness was found in the aspect of accurate self-assessment (72%), compared to emotional self-awareness (56.4%) and self-confidence (57.9%).
