dc.description.abstract | Amorphophallus prainii is a plant with potential as a source of food and medicine,
but its population is threatened by land use change and deforestation. This study
aims to analyze the suitability of habitat and vegetation composition around the
habitat of A. prainii in North Sumatra Province, particularly around the Deli River
Basin. MaxEnt modeling with an AUC value (0.95) shows that the main factors
affecting the distribution of A. prainii habitat are soil type, altitude, distance from
rivers, and land cover. Areas with the highest habitat suitability include Deli
Serdang Regency, Simalungun Regency, Langkat Regency, and Binjai City.
Vegetation analysis was conducted at various elevations in the Deli River Basin.
The results showed that Amorphophallus prainii was found at elevations of 60-754
m above sea level. At an elevation of 60 m above sea level in Durin Tonggal Village
(secondary forest), 79 vegetative individuals of A. prainii were found. At an altitude
of 115 meters above sea level in Sugau Village (oil palm plantation), 88 vegetative
individuals of A. prainii were found. At an altitude of 200 meters above sea level in
Namo Pinang Village (oil palm plantation), 66 vegetative individuals and 5
generative individuals of A. prainii were found. At an altitude of 315 meters above
sea level in Bingkawan Village (agroforestry), 44 vegetative individuals of A. prainii
were found. At an altitude of 423 meters above sea level in Sembahe Village
(agroforestry), 21 vegetative individuals of A. prainii were found. At an altitude of
560 meters above sea level in Tanjung Beringin Village (agroforestry), 18 vegetative
individuals of A. prainii were found. At an altitude of 655 meters above sea level in
Rumah Pil-Pil Village (agroforestry), 17 vegetative individuals of A. prainii were
found. At an altitude of 754 meters above sea level in Durin Serugun Village (oil
palm plantation), 8 vegetative individuals of A. prainii were found. These findings
provide a scientific basis for conservation efforts and protection of the habitat of A.
prainii in North Sumatra. | en_US |
