Pengaruh Aplikasi 2 Kg Biochar Tandan Kosong Kelapa Sawit terhadap Produksi dan Sifat Kimia Tanah pada Tanaman Menghasilkan Kelapa Sawit (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) Umur 15 Tahun di PTPN IV Kebun Torgamba
The Effect of the Application of 2 Kg of Empty Oil Palm Bunch Biochar (TKKS) on the Production and Chemical Properties of Soil in Plants Producing Oil Palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) 15 years old at PTPN IV Torgamba Plantation.
Abstract
This study aims to determine the effect of the application of 2 kg of
oil palm empty bunch biochar (TKKS) on the production of fresh fruit bunches (FFB) and soil chemistry properties in oil palm plants (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) aged 15 years at PTPN IV Torgamba Plantation. The study was carried out in February-June 2025 using a non-factorial Group Random Design (RAK) consisting of two treatments, namely without biochar application (B0) and 2 kg/tree (B1) TKKS biochar application, each with four replications. The results showed that the application of biochar TKKS had an intangible effect on FFB production and soil chemistry, but it gave a positive tendency to increase the weight of FFB and improve several soil parameters, such as pH, C-organic, CEC, and nutrient content of N, P, and K. Thus, biochar TKKS has the potential to be used as a long-term soil improverent in oil palm plantations, although it takes further research over a longer period to obtain significant results.
