    Abstract
Aim: To investigate the benefits of phase II cardiac rehabilitation towards functional capacity and quality of life in patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension in Adam Malik General Hospital. Method: This is an experimental reserch conducted with quasi experimental design. There were 36 participants selected through consecutive sampling method. The six minute walk test and quality of life were evaluated before and after the cardiac rehabilitation. Result: Among all 36 participants, 31 subjects were women with ages ranging from 36,5 ± 11,3 in control group and 39,8 ± 12,4 in case group. The result showed that there were improvements in functional capacity, quality of life, and MPAP value in case group (P < 0.001). The similar result was obtained in control group having received pulmonary hypertension medication only. However, according to the paired sample T - test between case and control group, it was discovered that the improvements of functional capacity, quality of life, and MPAP value were better in control group (P < 0.005). Conclusion: The addition of phase II cardiac rehabilitation to pulmonary hypertension standard treatment resulted in better improvements in functional capacity, quality of life, and MPAP value compared to those having received medication only. Keywords:Phase II cardiac rehabilitation, pulmonary arterial hypertension, quality of life, 6 Minute Walk Test
