dc.description.abstractThis research focuses on the implementation of tolerance education in the Social Anthropology Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of North Sumatra, for its students. The background is that there are still many cases of intolerance out there that are very dangerous for the unity and integrity of the Indonesian nation. Therefore, the importance of teaching the values of tolerance amidst the complexity of Indonesian society which is very diverse, both in religion, ethnicity, and culture. As an effort to increase students' awareness and understanding of the importance of tolerance education. This research uses a qualitative method that focuses on in-depth observation of a phenomenon, with data collection techniques through observation, in-depth interviews, documentation and analyzing it using the socialization, enculturation and internalization approaches. Based on the results of the study, it shows that the implementation of tolerance education provided by the Social Anthropology Study Program is through two types of educational systems, namely formal education including courses with their teaching and learning processes and non-formal education including student initiation activities, cultural festivals and religious events including Christmas and breaking the fast together.en_US
