Objective:
Internal validation of MEDAN score as an instrument for diagnosis of acute myocardial infarction in the emergency unit.
Method:
This study was an ambispective observational study. Retrospective data was collected from the medical records of Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) patients in the cardiac emergency unit of Adam Malik Hospital in total sampling starting from January 2024 – December 2024. Prospective data was obtained from the medical records of ACS patients consecutively starting January 2025 until the minimum number of samples is met. The samples included in the research analysis were those that met the inclusion criteria without the exclusion criteria.
Results:
MEDAN score had a sensitivity value of 78.2%, specificity of 60,7%, positive predictive value (PPV) of 71.2%, and negative predictive value (NPV) of 69%. Males were vulnerable suffering from myocardial infarction than females. Patients who experienced myocardial infarction had an average age of 58.22±9.92 years, heart rate of 82.53±18.99 times/minute, systolic blood pressure of 133.96±24.60 mmHg, and creatinine of 1.47±1.45.
Conclusion:
Internal validation shows that MEDAN score can be used as an instrument for the diagnosis of acute myocardial infarction in the emergency unit.
