The Existence of Warkop Aceh Agam Senyum Ketawa in Medan (Analysis of Doxa, Orthodoxa, Heterodoxa)
Abstract
This study aims to understand the existence of Warkop Aceh Agam Senyum Ketawa
in Medan using the analytical framework of Doxa, Orthodoxa, and Heterodoxa
proposed by Pierre Bourdieu, as well as the Drugstore concept proposed by Jean
Baudrillard. Warkop Aceh Agam emerged as an interesting social phenomenon that
combines local cultural values with modern consumption methods in the context of
capitalism in an urban environment. This study applies a qualitative approach
through the use of a case study method. Information was collected through direct
observation, comprehensive interviews with the owner, customers, and surrounding
business actors, and document collection in the field. The findings of the study
indicate that Warkop Aceh Agam plays a role as a social place that strengthens
Acehnese cultural identity and offers an alternative to the consumer culture that
exists in the modern era. In Doxa's view, this warkop is seen as a natural social
space for the community; Orthodoxa supports its existence as a symbol of local
identity and social solidarity; while Heterodoxa emphasizes the impact of economic
competition and social changes occurring in the surrounding area. This study
concludes that Warkop Aceh Agam is not just a place to enjoy coffee, but also a
space for social interaction that combines traditional values with modern elements
of the city of Medan.
