Biofuel is an alternative energy source to replace petroleum-based fuels. Biofuels are very promising and can be used for various industrial purposes, including as a combustion fuel and power generation fuel for chemical production. They can also be blended with diesel fuel to fuel diesel engines. The preliminary design of a biofuel production plant using RBDPS as the raw material is designed with a production capacity of 65,000 tons/year and operating 330 days a year. The plant is planned to be located in . The purpose of the biofuel plant design is to apply chemical engineering knowledge, including mass balances, energy balances, equipment specifications, chemical engineering operations, utilities, and other aspects of chemical engineering, while also meeting the need for environmentally friendly alternative fuels. The results of the pre-design economic analysis of the biofuel manufacturing plant from RBDPS are:
1. Capital Investment (CI) = Rp 1.440.001.002.201
2. Total Cost (TC) = Rp 1.052.233.758.577
3. Profit Margin (PM) = 64,92 %
4. Break Even Point (BEP) = 24,53 %
5. Return on Investment (ROI) = 26,70 %
6. Pay Out Time (POT) = 3,8 tahun
7. Return on Network (RON) = 43,17%
8. Internal Rate of Return (IRR) = 25,82 %
From the results of the economic aspect analysis, it can be concluded that a biofuel manufacturing plant from RBDPS through a hydrogen cracking process is feasible to be established.
