Electrical Power Consumption Measurement and Monitoring System for Household Appliances Using ESP8266 Microcontroller Based on IoT (Internet of Things)
Abstract
Real-time monitoring of electrical energy consumption is a crucial step in promoting energy efficiency in household environments. This study aims to design and develop a system for measuring and monitoring the power usage of household electrical appliances using the Internet of Things (IoT) based on the ESP8266 microcontroller and the PZEM-004T sensor. The PZEM-004T sensor is used to accurately measure electrical parameters such as voltage, current, active power, and energy consumption. The ESP8266 microcontroller functions as the data processor and transmitter, sending real-time measurement data to the ThingSpeak IoT platform via a Wi-Fi connection. Through the ThingSpeak web interface, users can monitor their electricity usage in real time using a smartphone or computer. Test results show that the system provides accurate and stable data, helping users make informed decisions for reducing energy consumption. This system offers a practical and cost-effective solution for household electricity monitoring.
