| dc.description.abstract | Background: The Pharmacist Professional Work Practice (PKPA) at Community
Health Centers is a form of field learning for students of the Pharmacist
Professional Education Study Program. PKPA is implemented to equip
prospective pharmacists to understand the duties, roles and responsibilities of
pharmacists at community health centers and improve competency in
pharmaceutical services.
Objective: The purpose of the PKPA is to provide knowledge, skills and practical
experience to students regarding the management of pharmaceutical supplies,
medical devices, consumable health materials (BMHP), as well as clinical
pharmacy services at community health centers.
Methods: The PKPA was conducted at UPT. Puskesmas Medan Labuhan from
November 1 to November 28, 2024. The methods included observation, hands-on
practice in drug management, prescription services, drug information delivery,
counseling, and community education on the rational use of antibiotics.
Results: Students gained direct experience in pharmaceutical supply
management, including planning, requesting, receiving, storing, distributing,
controlling, recording, reporting, and evaluation. Skills in clinical pharmacy
services such as prescription review, drug information provision, counseling,
adverse drug reaction monitoring, and drug use evaluation were also enhanced.
Additionally, educational activities for the elderly on the rational use of antibiotics
improved public awareness of safe and effective drug use.
Conclusion: The PKPA at public health centers significantly improves students'
understanding, managerial skills, and professionalism, preparing them to face
future professional challenges in accordance with pharmaceutical practice
standards. | en_US |
