dc.description.abstract | The utilization of solar energy as an alternative energy source serves a
strategic solution to enhance post-harvest efficiency in agricultural commodities.
This study aims to evaluate the performance of a solar collector dryer with a
parabolic reflector on four types of chili peppers (Capsicum annuum L.) using
varying air flow velocities of 0,5; 1;1,5; and 2 m/s. Observed parameters include
temperature, relative humidity, moisture content, drying rate, and the effective
capacity of the dryer. The results showed that all treatments successfully reduced
the moisture content of chili peppers from approximately 85% to 10%, in
accordance with the SNI standard. An air flow velocity of 1,5 m/s demonstrated the
most stable performance in reducing moisture evenly, with sufficiently high
temperature that remained safe for preserving chili quality. Although statistical
analysis showed no significant effects, this treatment combination demonstrated the
most optimal practical performance. The dryer is considered effective and feasible
for efficient for environmentally friendly chili drying. | en_US |
