The Effect of Word Square Health Promotion Media and Video on Students' Knowledge and Attitude about Tuberculosis at Sman 1 Delitua
Abstract
Tuberculosis is a complex and serious global health problem that threatens the well-being of society. Tuberculosis is an infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which primarily affects the lungs but can also spread to other organs. The disease recognizes no social and economic boundaries, so it can affect anyone, including vulnerable groups such as children, adolescents, the elderly, and individuals with weak immune systems. In order to prevent tuberculosis disease in students, it is necessary to provide word square and video health promotion on knowledge and attitudes about tuberculosis disease in students of SMAN 1 Deli Tua. This type of research is quantitative research with Quasi Experiment design through non equivalent control group design. The research sample was 70 in 10th grade students. Data were collected by questionnaires and analyzed using Wilcoxon test. The results of the research test showed that there was a difference in the mean value of student knowledge before (10,14 ) and after (14,17) with a value of p = 0.000 and student attitudes before (60,17) and after (62,80) given the word square media intervention with a value of p = 0.000, then there was also a difference in the mean value of knowledge before (10,06) and after (12,49) with a value of p = 0.000 and student attitudes before (57,97) and after (62,49) given video media intervention with a value of p = 0.000. However, at the end of the study, it is known that word square has more effect on knowledge (14,17) and attitude (62,80) about tuberculosis disease than video media (knowledge=12,49 and attitude = 62,49). Based on this, it is recommended for the school to utilize word square media and videos as efforts to promote health regarding tuberculosis and to enhance coordination and collaboration among educators to develop educational media that is suitable for students.
