    Abstract
Background: Dandruff is a common scalp problem characterized by excessive flaking of the scalp, resembling flakes, accompanied by oily dirt, hair loss, and itching. One type of bacteria that contributes to dandruff is Staphylococcus aureus and Staphylococcus epidermidis. Hair serum or care products have the potential to reduce dandruff and improve scalp and hair health. Hair serum containing candlenut oil and black cumin can potentially act as an anti-dandruff agent for human hair. The combination of candlenut oil and black cumin in hair care products can provide synergistic benefits to reduce dandruff on the hair. With the antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties of these two components. Purpose: This study aims to determine the anti-dandruff potential of Hair serum containing candlenut oil (Aleurites Moluccana) and black cumin (Nigella Sativa) using the microdilution method. Method: Hair serum samples of candlenut oil and black cumin were tested for anti-dandruff activity using the microdilution method against Staphylococcus aureus and Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria. Results: Hair serum containing candlenut oil (Aleurites Moluccana) and black cumin (Nigella Sativa) obtained MIC and MBC results against Staphylococcus aureus and Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria of 12.5% and 25%, respectively. Conclusion: Hair serum containing candlenut oil (Aleurites Moluccana) and black cumin (Nigella Sativa) has the potential as an anti-dandruff against Staphylococcus aureus and Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria by testing using the microdilution method.
