Kelimpahan dan Pertumbuhan Kepiting Bakau (Scylla Serrata) di Pantai Mangrove Kampung Nipah, Desa Sei Nagalawan, Kabupaten Serdang Bedagai, Provinsi Sumatera Utara

Abstract

The Mangrove Beach of Kampung Nipah in Sei Nagalawan Village, Perbaungan District, Serdang Bedagai Regency—located approximately 70 km south of Medan—has been a tourist destination since 2012 due to its beautiful scenery, white sands, and dense mangrove forest. The mud crab (Scylla serrata) is one of the fishery species that inhabits mangrove forests as its natural habitat. In Indonesia, the potential for mud crab populations is considerable, as they can be found in almost all coastal waters, especially those with mangrove ecosystems. This study aims to determine the abundance and growth patterns of the mud crab (Scylla serrata) at the Mangrove Beach of Kampung Nipah, Sei Nagalawan Village, Serdang Bedagai Regency, North Sumatra Province. The research employed a purposive sampling method across three distinct stations. The results indicate that the abundance of Scylla serrata was 4600 individuals/ha at Station 1, 1600 individuals/ha at Station 2, and 3000 individuals/ha at Station 3, exhibiting a negative allometric growth pattern.
