dc.description.abstractThis study aims to test the performance and accuracy of rapid soil water content measurement using the Capacitive Soil Moisture Sensor V2.0. The research was conducted at three different locations, namely the PPKS Sei Aek Pancur Experimental Garden, PT Perkebunan Nusantara IV Regional 2 Adolina Seed Garden, and the PPKS Bukit Sentang Experimental Garden, using two measurement methods, namely capacitive sensors and gravimetry as a comparison method. The results of this study indicate that the use of Capacitive Soil Moisture Sensors V2.0 at all locations directly in the field shows a low level of accuracy with a correlation (r) of 0.38. The sensor validation results show that the prediction error is still quite high, with RMSE value of 9.82 and MAE of 8.18 for estimating water content using sensor measurements in the field, and RMSE of 14.12 and MAE of 12.01 for estimating water content using sensor measurements after oven drying. This study concludes that water content measurements using the Capacitive Soil Moisture Sensor V2.0 are not yet capable of replacing soil water content measurements using the gravimetric method, so periodic sensor calibration is necessary to maintain and improve accuracy.en_US
