Background: Antenatal corticosteroid administration is used to prevent respiratory complications in premature neonates has been linked with increased risk of hypoglycemia. The incidence of hypoglycemia in high-risk neonates is 30%.The aim of this study is to analyze the association between risk of hypoglycemia in premature neonates and antenatal corticosteroid administration. Method: This is an analytic research with cohort design conducted in Adam Malik Hospital from December 2023 to February 2024. Blood glucose assessment is carried out using blood glucose monitoring device within 1 and 4 hours after birth. Statistical analysis is carried out using Fischer’s Exact, Mann Whitney and independent T-tests to find the relationship between hypoglycemia and antenatal dexamethasone administration. Result: A total of 30 neonates met the criteria in this study. There were 13(43,3%) neonates with incomplete doses of dexamethasone, while 17(56,7%) had complete doses. Mild hypoglycemia occurred in 1(7,7%) and 2(11,8%) neonates with incomplete and complete doses of dexamethasone. The 1-hour after birth blood glucose level in neonates with incomplete and complete dose of dexamethasone were 85±30,67 mg/dL and 75±15,85 mg/dL,the 4-hour blood glucose level was 90,39±10,53 mg/dL and 91,59±12,82 mg/dL. The analysis showed that there is no relationship between hypoglycemia and dexamethasone administration. Conclusion: There is no association between risk of hypoglycemia in premature neonates with antenatal dexamethasone administration.en_US
