| dc.description.abstract | Serdang Bedagai Regency is one of the potential areas for the development of the fisheries sector on the East Coast of North Sumatra. One of the potentials is in the tourist area of Nipah Village, Perbaungan Subdistrict, Serdang Bedagai Regency, where there is a lot of fauna diversity, one of which is gelodok fish. Periophthalamus malaccensis has local economic value and plays a role in the food chain, so its sustainability needs to be maintained through management based on scientific data generated in this study. The objectives of this study are as follows to determine the morphology and to determine the growth of Gelodok fish (Periophthalamus malaccensis) in Mangrove Beach, Serdang Bedagai Regency, North Sumatra. This research was conducted for 3 months from November to January 2025 at Mangrove Beach, Serdang Bedagai Regency, North Sumatra. The results showed that the species Periophthalamus malaccensis has an elongated cylindrical body shape, a large head with protruding eyes, has a double dorsal fin consisting of a spiny first dorsal fin and a soft branching second dorsal fin, has pectoral fins, pelvic fins, anal fins and caudal fins. The morphometric characteristics of frogfish obtained varied with a total length of 13-27 cm and meristic characteristics obtained a range of calculations of the radius of the pectoral fins 8-14, pelvic fins 10-14, anal fins 10-13, caudal fins 9-12 and pelvic fins 14-16. The growth parameters of the Von Bertalanffy model (K and L∞) show that the asymptotic L∞ value of the longer frogfish is the female frogfish with 293.25 mm with a growth coefficient K of 0.51 and to reach its asymptotic length takes 21 months. | en_US |
