Prarancangan Pabrik Natrium Nitrat dari Natrium Klorida dan Asam Nitrat dengan Proses Sintesis Kapasitas 1.500 Ton/Tahun
Pre-Design of a Sodium Nitrate Plant from Sodium Chloride and Nitric Acid Using The Synthesis Process With A Capacity Of 1,500 Tons Per Year
Abstract
Sodium nitrate is white in color with the molecular formula NaNO₃. Sodium
nitrate is a chemical used in the manufacture of fertilizers, potassium nitrate,
dynamite, glass, pharmaceuticals, safety matches, and many other products. The
amount of sodium nitrate imported into Indonesia has consistently remained above
2,300 tons per year, while domestic production is still far too small to meet local
demand; therefore, the establishment of a sodium nitrate plant is necessary to
reduce dependence on imports. The raw materials used to produce sodium nitrate
are sodium chloride and nitric acid. Sodium nitrate is produced by a synthesis
process using an agitated tank reactor with a capacity of 1,500 tons per year. The
main production process for sodium nitrate consists of three stages: reaction,
separation, and purification. The proposed plant location is in the Cikampek area,
Karawang, West Java, Indonesia. The workforce required amounts to 172 people,
and the business will be organized as a Perseroan Terbatas (PT, limited liability
company) led by a plant manager under a line-and-staff organizational system.
The investment capital required to establish the plant is Rp 345,478,410,548, with
production costs of Rp 259,044,166,709 and a net profit of Rp 363,394,358,212.
Based on the economic feasibility analysis, the plant has a BEP (break-even point)
of 35%, an ROI of 25.13%, a profit margin (PM) of 61%, a payback period (POT)
of 3.98 years, an RON of 40.37%, and an IRR of 29.73%. From the economic
analysis results, it can be concluded that the preliminary design for a sodium
nitrate plant from sodium chloride and nitric acid using the synthesis process is
feasible to establish.
