Potensi Wisata Alam Puncak Tangke Tabu Berastagi Kab. Karo : Peluang dan Tantangan

Abstract

Tourism is defined as a travel activity carried out by individuals or groups from one place to another, usually for recreation, education or other activities.This research aims to identify and analyze the natural tourism potential, infrastructure and accessibility conditions, as well as the opportunities and challenges in the development of Puncak Tangke Tabu in Berastagi, Karo Regency, North Sumatra. Puncak Tangke Tabu, located in Semangat Village, Merdeka District, at an altitude of approximately 2,100 meters above sea level, offers stunning natural scenery, cool air, and a tranquil atmosphere, making it an ideal destination for nature tourism. Data was collected through interviews and direct observation with managers and visitors, as well as documentation. Data analysis was conducted using a qualitative descriptive approach. The results indicate that the main attractions of Puncak Tangke Tabu are its fresh air and serene atmosphere, supported by adequate facilities such as camping grounds, outbound areas, flying fox, an aviary, a ball pit area, photo printing services, a prayer room (musholla), parking area, dining facilities, and toilets. Accessibility to the location is considered good and strategic. Development opportunities include leveraging the natural beauty and the increasing interest in ecotourism. However, significant challenges include the need for substantial funding for infrastructure development and the impact of climate change. This study concludes that Puncak Tangke Tabu has great potential as a promising natural tourism destination, but requires a comprehensive and sustainable development strategy to overcome financial and environmental constraints, as well as to enhance promotion and local community participation.
