The purpose of this study was to see how much the level of perception factors influenced the interest of young people to become farmers and to find out how much the level of interest of young people in Tigabinanga District, Karo Regency to become farmers. The method used is quantitative descriptive analysis. The sampel of study consited of 98 young people from Tigabinanga District. Data were collected through a Likert-based questionnaire, then analyzed using validity and reliability tests. To test the relationship between indicators in youth perceptions and the variable of youth interst in becoming farmers, the Spearman’s rho corellation test were used. The result of the study showed that the level of interest of young people to become farmers was high, this was supported by the availability of local resources, there was access to marketing, and ease og agricultural facilities and infrastructure at the research location. The result of the spearman rho test also showed a very weak negative relationship between perception and interest in becoming farmers (ρ = -0,199; p = 0,05). Although right on the verge of statistical significance, the direction of this relationship indicates that more positive perceptions are not always accompanied by increased interest.
