Climate change is a global threat caused by the increase in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, which are measured through carbon footprints. In 2023, Indonesia contributed approximately 1,24 gigatons of CO₂e, accounting for 2,3% of total global emissions. Addressing the impacts of climate change cannot rely solely on the government but requires active participation from all sectors of society, including students as the nation’s future generation. By providing students with appropriate knowledge and skills, they can be empowered to become agents of change. To support this process, engaging and easily understood media can be utilized in school-based learning. Media such as animated videos are considered effective in conveying information visually, making it easier for students to comprehend. This study employed a quasi-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design involving 78 students from SMAIT Al-Fityan Medan, selected using Slovin's formula and random sampling techniques. The results of the study indicate that animated video media had a significant effect on students’ knowledge (p-value = 0,000), attitudes (p-value =0,017), and actions (p-value = 0,000) after the intervention. One week after the intervention, the effects on knowledge and actions were no longer significant (p-value = 0,496; p-value = 0,141), while attitudes showed a slight decline, although the change was not statistically significant (p-value = 0,141). The animated video media used in this study was rated as excellent by the students. It is hoped that the animated video media can be more widely utilized as an educational tool for teaching students about carbon footprints. Future studies are recommended to evaluate the long-term impact and assess behavioral changes through direct observation.en_US
