    Abstract
Floating net cages are a type of fish farming sector using feed placed in deep water bodies. Fish farming using floating net cages in North Sumatra is located in Lake Toba, especially in Girsang Sipangan Bolon District, Simalungun Regency. The total phosphorus content from leftover feed and fish metabolism will encourage excessive phytoplankton growth / nutrient enrichment / nutrients. Lake Toba has been designated as an oligotrophic lake which is poor in nutrients. The increase in phosphorus content in the water will also change the trophic status of Lake Toba. This study analyzes the effect of floating net cage (KJA) activity on the carrying capacity and capacity of the total phosphorus pollution load. Analysis of the effect of floating net cage (KJA) activity on the total phosphorus (TP) pollution load and water quality will be described using a Geographic Information System (GIS). The management of floating net cages (KJA) is recommended to be in accordance with the total phosphorus pollution load capacity. The results of the study showed that the total phosphorus capacity of fish waste per lake unit was -1,138.54 gr P/m2.year and the water quality was polluted by total phosphorus. The distribution of total phosphorus at station I (Sualan Hamlet) was highest at point 1, station II (Sibaganding Hamlet) was highest at points 3 and 4 and station III (Panahatan Hamlet) was highest at point 2. Management of floating net cages to maintain the sustainability of Lake Toba and the community's economy can be done by increasing efficiency in feeding, reducing the number of conventional cages with environmentally friendly cages, adjusting the number of fish to feed, collaborating with academics to utilize the results of cage sediment so that it has economic value.
