dc.description.abstractThe preliminary design of a factory furfural from coconut shells with a supra-yield process has a production capacity of 1,800 tons/year and operates for 330 days. The process in this pre-designed plant consists of four process stages, namely the raw material preparation process, the hydrolysis and dehydration process, the purification process and the product packaging process. In the hydrolysis and dehydration stages, the fluidized bed reactor operates at a temperature of 170°C and a pressure of 7.9 atm for 1 hour. The amount of coconut shell raw material needed to achieve production capacity is 1,399.065 kg/hour. The furfural manufacturing plant from coconut shells with a supra-yield process is planned to be established in Kuala Kampar District, Pelalawan Regency, Riau with a required land area of 18,803.40 m2. The planned form of business entity is a Limited Liability Company (PT). The planned organizational form is a line and staff organization with a required workforce of 125 people. The results of the economic aspect analysis obtained are Capital Investment (CI) of Rp. 379,825,023,643,-, Total Cost (TC) of Rp. 292,692,171,519,-, Profit Margin (PM) of 38.9072%, Break Even Point (BEP) of 52.342%, Return on Investment (ROI) of 33.0861%, Return On Network (RON) of 55.1435%, Pay Out Time (POT) for 3 years, and Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of 33.0212%.en_US
